The brief was to install lighting, system control & audio in extremely sensitive surroundings.
The audio system is primarily for conference work, but is also used for foreground music at functions. QSC Acoustic Design speakers were installed as they are compact in size while still being horn loaded. The Acoustic Design subs were also discretely installed in existing wall cavities.
A Crestron processor is controlled wirelessly with an iPad or iPod, which gives user flexibility while also giving a great library of music. The Crestron processor controls the iLight lighting & QSC audio system (via an Allen & Heath DSP) using both presets and individual channel control.

St Aidan’s were looking for a less traditional approach to break times, using samples of
classical music to indicate the start and finish of periods rather than the usual bell.
They also needed a paging facility throughout the building to inform of important events and make announcements.
A 100v line speaker system was installed for the paging and music, which also included exterior quality horn speakers for the playground. At the front-end a multi-sound-card PC with multi-zone software was installed. This gave the school the capability of playing individual music samples to specific zones of the school simultaneously, so differentiating the end-of-period signals for each zone is possible.

installations throughout the Edinburgh Campus. The teaching spaces were using small portable
systems as teaching aids, which could be awkward and time consuming to set up. New permanently
installed NEC projectors were chosen to replace the portable units due to the quality and the 3 year
hot swap warranty. The Hotswap warranty meant that if any project malfunctioned, NEC would swap the
unit with a replacement in the first 3 years. No projectors have ever been replaced.
