Audio Light Systems at the National Museum of Scotland

Audio Light Systems have completed the AV installation in the Moffat Auditorium at the National Museum of Scotland as part of the £46m epic transformation.

The auditorium which was originally a 1950's screening cinema was fully refurbished & modernized. It now houses an 8m screen, Christie Digital HD10K-M high definition projector which is fed via an Analog Way SME100 seamless switcher. An Allen & Heath iDR system processes & controls the audio from Tascam & Blu-ray systems.

The Extron & Crestron systems provide easy end user control with an 8.4" WIFI Touch screen.

Audio Light Systems have installed a Theatre Plan specified sound system at Notre Dame School, Cobham. The recently completed school theatre required a sound system that would be of high quality and solid reputation. 22 boxes were supplied including MSE-159's, EMS-61's, i-5.5's, i-2.2's & M-10's.

Mixers, processing, source and amplification were also supplied as park of the package.

Audio Light Systems Have announced the appointment of George Purves as Business Development Manager.

George previously held a senior management role with Linn Products, and is well known throughout the retail and installation sector. More recently has been running a company in the Marine Leisure market, including some interesting Superyacht projects worldwide.

Audio Light Systems ltd Great Hall completion

The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh has recently completed the upgrade of the historic Great Hall. RCPE called in Audio Light Systems Ltd as they could provide audio, lighting and AV all from under the same roof.
The brief was to install lighting, system control & audio in extremely sensitive surroundings.

The audio system is primarily for conference work, but is also used for foreground music at functions. QSC Acoustic Design speakers were installed as they are compact in size while still being horn loaded. The Acoustic Design subs were also discretely installed in existing wall cavities.
A Crestron processor is controlled wirelessly with an iPad or iPod, which gives user flexibility while also giving a great library of music. The Crestron processor controls the iLight lighting & QSC audio system (via an Allen & Heath DSP) using both presets and individual channel control.
Due to the diverse lighting control protocols needed, Dali, DSI & leading edge dimmers, iLight control was chosen it is a single box compact solution with low noise operation.

Audio Light Systems Ltd completes major restoration at the Theatre Royal Newcastle

Audio Light Systems Ltd has recently completed work at the Theatre Royal Newcastle on the restoration project.

The ambitious development required the technical infrastructure to be replaced in the main auditorium and surrounding spaces. Audio Light Systems working to a Charcoal Blue specification completed the 5 month build with the usual high standards required for this level of work.

Over 20 miles of cable, over 100 new panels were used and more than 3500 man hours were taken during the short build period. The Audio Light Systems Project Engineer Dennis Martin used his extensive experience to make sure the project programme ran as smoothly as possible. "The auditorium has been fully refurbished and it was a priority that newly installed facilities be discrete, if not invisible. This was a challenge, but the end result was outstanding. Doughty panels and IWB's were used to help achieve the extremely high quality that was required." said Dennis.

On top of all this another 100 ways of ETC Sensor + were supplied to add to the 400 ways previously installed by Audio Light Systems. This was a truly impressive on-time and on-budget end result to help celebrate the Theatre Royals 175th anniversary.

The new Linlithgow Burgh Halls has reopened its doors after a two year refurbishment project.

Audio Light Systems have installed the full technical infrastructure, audio and lighting systems in the two new exciting performance spaces.

Strand Wallracks with Accent controllers have been installed for the production and architectural lighting. "The Strand Wallrack is a great dimmer, it's just very reliable and simple to use" Steve Aitchison, Project Engineer.

QSC Acoustic Design speakers and PLX amps are the backbone of the audio systems with Ampetronic low spill and cancellation induction loops providing the hearing assistive systems.


Victoria & Albert appoint Audio Light Systems Ltd

Audio Light Systems has recently completed the AV and lighting installation as part of a complete renovation of the Victoria and Albert Museum's Lydia and Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre.

The video installation comprised a Kramer VP-725xl presentation scaler, fed by a local vga plug in point in the control room, along with a Kramer TP-121/TP-122 vga cat5 Tx/Rx allowing a laptop to be plugged into the cat5 network and a Yamaha blu-ray player. The scaled output is routed to a Christie Digital DHD-670-E high definition projector, projecting onto a 7m electric screen.

The sound system was replaced with a pair of QSC-ADS282H speakers powered by a QSC PLX1804 amplifier. The audio can be routed via tie lines in floor boxes on the stage or via the cat5 network via the Yamaha SB168-ES stage box into the Yamaha LS9 digital mixing console with a MY16-ES64 interface card.

The lighting is controlled using a Strand Classic Palette II 250 console and a Strand 24 way wall rack. Audio Light Systems also installed a Doughty curved lighting bar and two side bars. Selecon Fresnel, HUI and Zoomspots complete the lighting package.

The whole system is controlled via a Crestron CP2e processor and a Crestron TPSI-6X wireless touch panel. Audio Light Systems also supplied and programmed two Apple iTouchs to give the AV department basic control.

"We were given an explanation of the lecture theatres current use and what they would like to be able to do in the future" says Stephen Dishon. "We had to balance between being able to quickly set the theatre up for everyday events, whilst also having the ability to do more complex shows. The design and the ease of use of the equipment allowed us to do this"

Edinburgh Playhouse

Audio Light Systems were selected to design and install an upgrade to the infra-red assisted listening system at the Edinburgh Playhouse.

The objective of the upgrade was to increase the coverage in order that people with hearing disabilities could enjoy the performance at any seat. To achieve this, the original 2 watt radiators were replaced with 5 watt units. To overcome the lack of signal at the front of the stalls two new 5 watt radiators were installed at high level on the proscenium out of the way of temporary sound and lighting rigs. Four of the original 2 watt radiators were re-used in the rear stalls and balcony to reinforce the signal.

Buckie High School new theatre

Audio Light System were picked to deliver a package of audio, lighting and AV that would entertain and education the students and visitors at Buckie High School in Moray.

48 ways of Strand dimming provided the lighting system to rival any small theatre. More than 30 Selecon lanterns of different types, truss and internally wired bars were designed to produce a versatile system able to tackle the most demanding of performance.
The audio system utilized QSC AD282's speakers powered by QSC amplification, which gives a clear powerful response.
To finish the project off, full drapes and a cyclorama provided a theatre that any school would be proud of.
Audio Light Systems were again complemented for the excellent standards of work produced and for the attention to detail that is part of our reputation.

Audio Light Systems at ONE in Suffolk

Continuing Audio Light Systems involvement in the education sector, we have recently completed the installation of a drama theatre and recording studios at the new build school, Suffolk One, for 16 to 19 year olds.

Audio Light Systems installed the lighting grid and dimmers, facility panels, sound systems, projectors and screen as well as the control system.

Suffolk One

There are two sound systems in the drama theatre. One system covers the audience space using 4 Turbosound TCX-15 speakers powered from QSC PLX amplifiers. Audio routing is done via an Allen and Heath iDR8 digital signal processor. The second sound system covers the stage area which can be split into two areas. These rooms have a portable flight cased trolley each, used to put audio into either one or both rooms via Australian Monitor XRS12 speakers.

The lighting system is made up of 8 internally wired lighting bars, 4 Strand 6 Pack dimmers with 15A sockets which when used in conjunction with the cable patch, allows any of the circuits on the lighting bars to be quickly and easily patched onto a dimmerchannel.

The lighting system has two lighting consoles, a Zero 88 Jester in one of the portable trolleys and the main theatres ETC Element 40. This allows the lighting to be independent in each room. These consoles can plug into anyone of the facility panels.

Audio Light Systems also installed three projectors. One Christie Digital LX1500 projector is used in the audience area and projects onto a 4m electric screen. A further two Christie Digital LX400 projectors are mounted in the stage area. These can be used independently in each of the two stage areas or be setup to work together to produce a projected backdrop on the cyclorama.

Suffolk One2

The whole system can be controlled via a Crestron AV2 control system with two TPs-6L touch panels. One touch panel is mounted in the equipment rack while the second is mounted in a JM Lecterns PA15 lectern, also containing a Sennheiser G3 radio microphone and Denon DVD player.

The two recording studios are linked back a control room containing two PreSonus Studio Live desks and Genelec 8030A Studio Monitor speakers. Facility panels and patch panels allow the studios to share feeds as well as send and receive feeds from the drama theatre.

As the newest performance space in the South West, Pavilion Dance has certainly got the equipment and technology to deliver a first class act.
Consultants Drama by Design were chosen to produce the solution, while Audio Light Systems Ltd were the choice to engineer the demanding design in this compact but well equipped venue.

The lighting package uses almost 200 ways of ETC Sensor dimming, controlled by an ETC Congo Junior desk.
Amongst the 100 plus lanterns supplied were 24 Robe 575's, 12 JB LED A7's plus Selecon, ETC & Thomas units.
The d&B audio system is controlled by a Yamaha LS9 32 & DME64. This makes it possible to switch easily between FOH and Cinema mode at the touch of a button on the Crestron control system, which also provides complete AV & lighting control. The transformation to a digital cinema was enabled by the installation of a Christie Digital Roadstar HD12K.
Doughty Engineering bespoke 50 plus panels and 11 internally wired bars were used throughout to meet the quality requirements of the project. The need for high spec also demonstrated that cable management chain systems can be used in smaller venues to great effect.

Crestron controlled DALI dimming lighting system

The QM Lecture theatre lighting system was using a basic analogue Triac dimmer to control the fluorescent light levels. In order to overcome the vast differences in light level at different point up the seating a system with a vastly improved advanced control system was deemed necessary.

The QM Lecture theatre is equipped with Crestron control system used to manipulate the impressive AV, Audio & Video conferencing systems. The user interfaces are Crestron touchscreen located on the lectern and n the Projection/control room. The lighting system was design around this interface so all technical facilities of the theatre can be controlled through the user friendly touchscreens with faders and presets buttons as desired.

A DALI system was installed to replace the old analogue system due to it flexibility and ability to address and thus control each of the 54 ballasts individually if required. DALI control came via an Ilight SCMD6400, a compact din-rail mountable unit with the facility to switch 230V contactors and control up to 64 individual DALI ballasts.

The room was divided into 6 power and control circuits. Each circuit was protected with and MCB and contained a varying number of fittings that had similar heights from the floor level. This allowed for simple light level set up as each row of luminaries' could be set at the same output levels once addressing was complete.

As a backup, which is necessary for a facility that carries out large scale VC seminars with high profile clients around the globe, a 4 preset button system sitting on the Ican network was installed. This allows for full control over the lighting in the unlikely event of the Crestron control system failing.

The new system now has a much higher maximum light output giving the users the flexibility for any requirements that is deemed necessary. The DALI system allowed engineers to set an even light level right across the theatre stage and seating areas, which due to the vastly different heights from floor to luminars is a real testament to the systems capabilities and functionality.

Wick Assembly Rooms was experiencing problems with a out dated poorly designed audio system, coupled with a tired looking drape set and walk along curtains.

The Audio Light Systems engineers on site constructed a simple steel framework above the ceiling. Three wire rope where suspended from the frame through the ceiling and connected to a pair of EAW- MK series loudspeakers.

The integrated system incorporated two paralleled 16-4 stage boxes with access points to the speakers and DMX lines for the dimmer control. One on stage and the second at the rear of the auditorium.

A portable audio system was supplied that can be used in either stage or rear of auditorium position. A long umbilical cable allows flexible positioning for the mixer desk and amps depending on the layout of the room.

The portable rack included a Allen & Heath WZ3-16.22X audio mixer feeding a QSC PLX1804 amplifier, giving great control and power to fill this large space.

Drapes and curtains

The Stage required a new set of drapes, legs and Borders to replace the old ripped and thread bare existing set.

Doughty six-track is now installed with a pulley system for the main curtains.

Sligo - The Model - a defining system for Irish performing arts

The Model is located in the town of Sligo, situated in the rural west coast of Ireland.
Audio Light Systems were asked to install a state of the art theatre system, which not only would be capable of delivering high end performances, but would also be installed to professional theatre standards.
The consultants, Theatre plan provided the design that would allow the Model to be a venue that would cater to a mass variety of artistic disciplines, including theatre, cinema, music, visual arts & much more.

Strand Lighting dimmers were installed for the 72 ways of production lighting, while Crestron LCD touch panels & processing, allowed for ultimate control over the house, working & production lighting. Allen & Heath iDR DSP give the show relay system impressive control distribution to the Sennheiser infra red, paging and jack fields.
Audio Light Systems again proved that they are not only an experienced install company with a track record for professional standards, but also a dedicated project management company working together with the design team and fellow contractors.

Heriot Watt - School of the Built Environment have recently renovated a room to provide seminar and video conferencing facilities. With a campus in Dubai, the SBE required a simple, cost effective but reliable solution. Audio Light Systems installed a Crestron MPC-M20 presentation controller mounted on a mobile lectern which holds the Kramer matrix, Apart amplifier, Toshiba DVD/VHS, Ampetronic loop amplifier, PC and the Polycom QDX6000 video conferencing codec. Audio Light Systems also installed a ceiling mounted NEC NP410EDU data projector. As well a controlling the signal routing to the projector and codec, the room volume and DVD/VHS functions, Audio Lights Systems interfaced a Crestron DIN-8SW8 mains relay switch to allow the Crestron controller can switch the front lights above the projection screen. Finally, the Crestron MPC-M20 has been interfaced with Crestron Roomview allowing the IT support department monitor the room and deal quickly with simple issues without the need to go to the room.

Stirling University - Logie Lecture Theatre

The University of Stirling choose Audio Light Systems as part of the refurbishment contractors for their main theatre. The Logie Lecture Theatre continues the universities drive to provide a high standard of teaching facility. To that end Audio Light Systems installed a Crestron control system giving the lecturer simple control of the theatres equipment whilst also allowing more control to the universities audio visual technicians.

The theatre boosts three Mitsubishi HD projectors suspended on an electrically operated Crestron controlled hoist, allowing quick and easy access for maintenance. The projectors project onto a 7m x 4m perforated fixed screen, giving the user the option of either single or dual projection. The theatre also has a Blu-Ray player connected via HDMI to the projector giving the theatre the ability to show High Definition video.

The sound in the theatre comes from 3 Tannoy Qflex16 hidden behind the screen. These speakers provide excellent sound coverage across the whole theatre. The theatre also has a 7.1 surround sound system. The three Tannoy Qflex speakers provide left, centre and right and are complimented by Tannoy V8's for the surround sound and a Tannoy VS-15NL subwoofer.

The DDA compliant electrically operated lectern holds the "popups" for laptop connections as well as the Smart DT-770 interactive touch screen, document camera and a pair of Sennheiser gooseneck microphones.

The audio system in setup using an Allen & Heath iDR8 with input and output expanders, switching between lecture mode and cinema mode at the touch of a button on the touch panel. The theatre also has Sennheiser G3 radio microphones giving the theatre the flexibility for audience question and answer sessions. Willaims Sound inra red transmitters provide hearing assistance.

The video signal distribution is via a Crestron CEN-RGB8x8 RGB Switcher. This allowed easy interface with the Crestron AV2 control processor. The signals are sent over cat5e using Kramer TP-121 and TP-122 range extenders.

The Crestron system can also control the main theatre lighting, wall lights and the blue lights behind the screen as well as the foyer lights.

Although the main use of the theatre is lecturing for students, the theatre can also be used by commercial organisations. To this end the theatre has three NTP time server clocks and a traffic light cue system allowing accurate timing and conference speaker cueing. 50" LCD screens in the theatre and 46" in the foyer allow logos or information to be displayed independent of what is on the main projection screen.

When it comes to paging and show relay Audio Light Systems have the wealth of experience required to upgrade and repair the most complex of system.
So when it came to the Traverse Theatre looking for a contractor to modernize their system, Audio Light Systems was the clear choice. The stage managers desk has been rewired and reconfigured to allow for the installation of the ASL paging and signal processor components. The new installation gives the theatre a multi bus, multi zone, priority system fit for the most demanding of situations.

Kings Park Church, Glasgow Kings Park Church, Glasgow

The parishioners at King’s Park Church, Glasgow weren’t satisfied with the lack of intelligibility and the unsightliness of the existing audio system.
The challenge for Audio Light Systems was to improve the sound intelligibility and replace the white trunking on brown brick installation with a more appropriate style suited to the church.
With an acoustic design form John MacDonald to work to, the biggest challenge facing the Audio Light Systems installation team was getting the speaker cable to the Evid speakers.
With great attention to detail and no cable route taken without thought for the aesthetics of the 1930s brick building, the outcome of the installation was met with great praise from the Rev Sandra Boyd and her parishioners. The result, a balanced, clear audio system with no cables visible in the main nave, while the curved shape of the Evid speakers blend suitably with the archways.


New Dimmers for Newcastle

The Theatre Royal Newcastle were given the go ahead to replace there long lasting dimmer system with 5 ETC Sensor racks and a additional 4 sine wave packs. After a long process of decision making Audio Light Systems were chosen as the installation company for the project.
During the same period the theatre was also undergoing a re-wire which also had to incorporate into the dimmer installation. Audio Light Systems design engineering team had to be incorporated into the installation to allow a smooth transition from the old to the new.

The theatre’s new dimming system is formed of five 48-way ETC Sensor racks populated with 170 3kW RCD dimmers, 19 5kW RCD dimmers and 34 3kW contactor modules, plus an additional four six-way SineWave wall-mounted dimmer packs.
The control system is now based around a 4,000-channel ETC Eos console, with a matching RPU backup and a smaller ETC Ion console. DMX output from the console’s network output is generated using two ETC Net3 4-way Gateways, each offering four DMX outputs and four DMX inputs, and six ETC Net3 3-way touring Gateways, each with twin DMX outputs. A network PC allows dimmer monitoring and remote console operation, while a Net3 Radio Remote Focus unit allows easy channel control from the stage.


The High Life in the Highlands

Torridon Village Hall lies deep in the mountains of the Highlands providing the local community with a multipurpose venue for recitals, drama, Ceilidh’s plus much more.
The Hall committee contacted Audio Light Systems to provide a new sound system that could be used for all occasions.

The main Hall is a timber lined space with over 2 seconds of delay. To combat this issue a centre cluster was install above the proscenium to give a single point source to maximise coherency. Two T&M XS12 speaker were flown upside-down utilising the rotatable horn to give good directivity and a narrower dispersion.
Two doughty lighting stands with Selecon lanterns were also supplied to the amdram group, just in time for their next production.

St Mary's Episcopal Church

ST Mary's

St Mary's Episcopal Church, Dalmahoy contracted Audio Light Systems to provide a solution to their problem of getting a video and audio feed across to their overflow church hall 40m from the church.
Due to a number of obstacles, including a wooded area and gardens cabling was not possible. To work around this a high powered wireless LAN was setup with a camera and audio feed converted to TCP/IP and transmitted across from the church to the hall (or the other way). At the Hall end the signal is then distributed to the hall sound system and onto a projector.
The end result is a wireless audio and video link between the Church and the Church Hall, allowing for overflow plus many more applications.

The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh

The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh decided to replace there aging CCTV system with a more up to date solution. Having a reputation for diverse engineering solutions, Audio Light Systems were called in to provide a modern CCTV system.

The old coaxial cameras were replaced with a TCP/IP setup with each camera recording onto the NAS drive making the system more reliable & robust. This allowed the client to easily view and record any camera from any PC. The new system consisting of nearly 20 cameras also increased the image quality and made the management of recorded clips much simpler. As the cameras also utilise plug and play technology more cameras can be added anywhere at any time, allowing for future expansion and mobile add-ons.

Edinburgh Zoo goes wild on the bus

Lighting & audio were required to complete the rain forest atmosphere in the new Edinburgh Zoo Wild Bus.

The new addition to Edinburgh Zoo will be travelling around Scotland showing different aspects of Edinburgh zoo to Schools and organizations up and down the country. Coloured LED lighting and background jungle sounds combine with impressive internal artwork to give the sensation of being deep in the rain forest.

Audio Light Systems have completed a second installation on the Isle of Mull. Salen Church has undergone a major refurbishment, including a new audio & induction loop system.

EV Evid speakers helped provide the solution for the speech and music system that the church required, as it hosts a variety of events for the local and surrounding communities. The University of Kent unveiled their newest college at their Canterbury campus. The Virgina Woolf College includes a large lecture theatre and seminar rooms. Audio Light Systems provided the Crestron control system in the lecture theatre and the Novara programming in the seminar rooms. The Crestron system controls three projectors, the audio mixer matrix, the 16x16 RGBHV via a LAN as well as 2 dome cameras and the lights via RS-485 and a DVD/VHS player via IR. The lecturer has access to basic control via Smart DT770 17" touch panel integrated into the Crestron setup. This also allows the lecturer to 'draw' on their PC screen. For more in depth control a TPS-12G-QM is located at the back of the theatre in the control room. This allows level control of the audio mixer matrix as well as low level routing on the RGBHV matrix.

In the seminar rooms, the eight button Novara panels allow control of the projector, electric screen and presentation switcher. The panel also controls the room join routing and equipment control in two of the rooms.

One Pathfoot in the right direction

The University of Stirling have upgraded the lecture theatre in the Pathfoot building. The lecture theatre is controlled via a Crestron control system. The system controls two projectors and the 8x8 RGBHVvia a LAN and the lights via RS-485 and aDVD/VHS player via IR. The lecturer controls the theatre via a Smart DT770 17" touch panel integrated into the Crestron setup. This also allows the lecturer to 'draw' on their PC screen.

St James Church (Pollok) has sound & loop system installation

St James (Pollok) Parish Church in Glasgow has had a new audio and induction loop system installed. The new Audio Technica MX381 automatic mixer was used to control the number of open mics and to control their overall gain. This meant that no one was required to operate the system, giving complete freedom to the end user. The only thing the church has to do is press record on the CD unit to record the service.

 


The Main event at Eventech

Audio Light Systems had a very successful two days at Eventech Scotland 2009, with clients new and old dropping by for a visit.

 Strand, NEC, Robe, Fuzion & Audio Light Systems staff were on hand to offer product knowledge and general advice throughout the 2 days. Strand Lighting products were a great success among the theatre lighting professionals, with continuous demonstrations of the Strand Palette consoles and information on the Strand EC21 dimmer. The Robe ColorSpot & ColorWash 250s showed off their capabilities using the Stand Palettes while the NEC NP3150 projector gave fine image integrity when positioned off-axis by means of its integrated software. Cue light systems turned out to be a popular choice among students and professionals alike. The Theatre Cue digital controller was on display showing off its mic cable wiring daisy-chain capability and compact design. Audio Light Systems were also showing their mini Stage Managers console for small touring/amateur/educational users. 

Australian Monitor, Crestron, Kramer, Allen & Heath, Sennheiser, TOA, Tecpro were just some of the other products being demonstrated.

The Michael Croft Theatre London’s newest Theatre

Audio Light Systems have recently completed the performing arts technology at the Michael Croft Theatre in London. The new build theatre which is part of the famous Edward Alleyn’s School, asked Audio L ight Systems to install full audio, Lighting, AV & specialist systems at the venue.

Spring upgrade for RCPE by Audio Light Systems

The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh have upgraded their QM Lecture Theatre for 2009.Additional speed has been added to the web streaming and the original video signal was changed to VGA also increasing quality.On top of the web streaming improvements a new LCD projector and speaker system have also been installed. The upgraded projector, a Christie LX900, is 9000 Ansi Lumens and has a contrast ratio of 2000:1. As a result of this the audience can now clearly make out the finest of detail, which is essential in this predominately medical venue.The ageing speakers have been replaced with a new EAW JFX100 centre cluster, increasing clarity significantly. 

The extremely busy lecture theatre is always kept up to date by improving its facilities and the overall effect is very impressive.

The AMX controlled venue caters for a wide variety of functions from boxing to conferences, so needed high quality, brightness and reliability. Peebles Old Parish Church has a new Parish Church AV system

With a capacity of over 1200, the committee at Peebles Old Parish Church were looking for an AV specification that would fulfil demanding requirements of the busy town centre church. The system also needed to be discrete as the church is a historic listed building with local architectural importance.
A consultant driven specification for the audio system was put forward along with the exciting task of building two bespoke retractable screens for the projector system.
The audio included 14 QSC Acousticdesign speakers AD-S282H, AD-S82 & AD-S52 driven in three sets of delays throughout the church. Delay, EQ, AGC and AFD are controlled using a DBX DSP. The phonic “Helix Board 24” desk was chosen for control, giving the extra capability of 18 track digital recording via its FireWire output. Radio microphones supplied are the trusted Sennheiser ew100 range.
The projector system really showed Audio Light Systems capability for design and build and the final system worked as intended. The two screens mounted on a bracket and pivot mechanism, which allows full retraction when the screens are not in use.
The closed position is located directly on top of the gallery, blending the screen housing in to the buildings gallery structure. When the screens are in use, the church is transformed into a truly 21st century church with the two 2 x 1.5 screens giving excellent coverage & viewing. Two NEC NP2150 projectors focus across the Nave to the opposite site of the church. The configuration gave the opportunity to hide the NEC’s under the Gallery, helping to preserve the churches original state of late 19th century grandeur.

Whisky and loudspeakers galore

Audio light systems have recently completed the upgrade of paging facilities at the Chivas Brothers Blending and bottling Plant, Newbridge Edinburgh.

The original system had been in place for approximately10 years but due to expansion of the loudspeaker system, carried out by Audio Light Systems a couple of years ago, the amplifiers were running at maximum capacity.

Each of the 5 zones within the factory has an Australian Monitor DCM 500W 100V line amplifier with a zone volume control to set the overall level of the background music, in this case either CD or DAB radio. Paging from the reception microphone, telephone interface or digital messages overrides any local and remote volume controls within the system, ensuring clear paging calls above the ambient noise levels associated with this type of environment.

The system allows for digital messaging for start and finish times for the bottling hall as well as First aid calls to all 5 zones covering the entire factory complex. 

Programming within the Application Solutions VAR 8 matrix control unit allows for the level of background music to drop when the shift has finished for the day and automatically rises the next morning prior to the start of shift.

New sound and loop system for Old Parish & St Pauls in Galashiels.

Electro Voice Evid speakers proved to be just the right choice for Old Parish & St Pauls in Galashiels. The Church was looking for a new sound system that could be used for a wide variety of applications including speech, praise band & AV to name just a few.  The end result of the new audio & loop system was good clarity with both speech and music.

Installation of a new audio system & loop at Dollar Parish Church

Dollar Parish Church was in need of a new audio system, and Audio Light Systems were glad to install one for them.

The Church is now equipped with Sennheiser mic - EV speaker combination which gives a good natural sound reinforcement system. Linked in with the audio system is a loop system.
The parishioners said "Thank you very much for an excellent and neat job. We can't see any of the cables!"

Installation of a new audio system at Dunblane Cathedral

Audio Light Systems have recently completed the Design, Supply and Installation of a new audio system at Historic Dunblane Cathedral.

The cathedral, which dates back to the 12th century, is undergoing a major refurbishment and as part of that refurbishment Audio Light Systems were commissioned by the church of Scotland and Historic Scotland, who own the Cathedral, to Design and Install a new audio system.
